Paddle Care 101:

Keep Your Rain City Paddle in Top Shape

At Rain City Paddle Co., we know that a great paddle deserves great care. Whether you're a seasoned pro or just getting into the game, a little TLC will keep your paddle performing at its best and lasting for years. Here’s everything you need to know:

How do I clean my paddle?

After each game, give your paddle a quick wipe-down with a damp cloth—sweat, dust, and court grime don’t belong on your gear! For a deeper clean, use a soft cloth with a mild soap solution. Just skip the harsh chemicals and rough scrubbing, and always dry it off completely before storing.

Can my paddle get wet?

Our paddles are moisture-resistant, but they’re not meant for swimming! Avoid submerging them in water or leaving them out in the rain for too long. If you do get caught in a drizzle, just dry your paddle off as soon as possible.

Where’s the best place to store my paddle?

Think cool, dry, and protected. A paddle bag works wonders to shield it from dust and damage. Keep it out of extreme heat or cold—no leaving it in a hot car or freezing garage! Ideal storage is somewhere between 50°F and 90°F (10°C - 32°C).

How do I prevent scratches and damage?

Avoid scraping your paddle against rough surfaces or using it to scoop up balls like a spatula (ya, we see you!). If you’re playing on a hard court, be mindful of the edges, as contact with the ground can cause wear over time.

What if my paddle gets a crack or chips?

A little cosmetic wear is normal, but if you spot a serious crack or chip, inspect your paddle before playing. Structural damage can affect performance, and if your paddle starts feeling off, it might be time for an upgrade.

How do I keep my grip fresh?

Your grip works hard—over time, it can get worn out or slippery. Keep it clean and dry, and if it starts feeling off, replace it with a fresh grip or overgrip. A solid grip means better control, and better control means better shots!

Does temperature affect paddle performance?

Absolutely! Extreme heat can warp materials, and freezing temps can make your paddle brittle. Keep it in a temperate environment whenever possible to maintain peak performance.

When should I replace my paddle?

If you notice cracks, a loose grip, or a loss of pop and control in your shots, it might be time for a new paddle. Trust your feel—when your paddle stops delivering the performance you love, it's a sign to upgrade.
